Simply washing them in the washing machine doesn’t take care of blood stains. Thankfully there is a simple method that can help you get rid of blood stains and getting your bedding back to its original state.

You will need borax, water, and a spray bottle. Start by mixing 9g of borax in 100 ml of water. Pour the solution into the spray bottle. Next, simply spray the blood stains on your sheets with the spray. They should become lighter from this initial pre-spray. Allow the solution to sit for a minimum of 30 minutes or longer.

Next, wash the sheets in the washing machine as if you’re doing regular laundry. When they are done laundering the blood stains should come out of the sheets. The cleaning solution can also be applied to grape juice and wine stains.

There are other commercially available pre-spray solutions for other stains. The pretreatment will work on organic stains without damaging your bedding. Many eco-friendly cleaning solutions are available so you aren’t exposed to harsh chemicals and still care for the environment.
