Rug fringe repair in Toronto

Loose, tangled or missing fringe? Our rug fringe repair starts with a close look at how it’s attached, then we suggest what suits your rug.

Signs to look for

When fringe needs attention

The ends of a rug take a lot of wear.

Vacuums catch the fringe, feet scuff it and the odd pet chews on it. Over time it can work loose, wear away or tangle.

  • Loose or unravelling
  • Missing in places
  • Tangled or matted
  • Uneven or patchy

Spot any of these, and it’s worth having a look before it gets worse.

Our first look

How we look at your fringe

Two things decide the right repair.

First, how it’s attached. On a Persian rug, the fringe is usually the ends of the very threads that run through the whole rug. On other rugs it’s sewn on.

Then, the wear itself: how far the ends have gone, and whether the edge where the fringe meets the pile is still holding.

You’ll hear what we found, and what we’d do.

Your options

Repair, rebuild or tidy

Three ways to go, depending on the rug.

Fringe can be looked after in more than one way, and the right rug fringe repair depends on the state it’s in.

  • Repair For fringe that is loose or coming apart. We secure what is there.
  • Rebuild For fringe missing in places. A rug fringe replacement, hand-made or machine-made, can be added if the rug allows it.
  • Tidy For fringe that is tangled or uneven. A careful untangle and trim may be all it needs.

We suggest only what makes sense for your rug, and the final call is always yours.

One visit

Wash first, then the fringe

One pickup, one delivery.

Your rug is always washed first, even if it’s fairly new. The wash clears out loose fibres and shows up any hidden damage, so the fringe repair is done properly, and the fringe itself gets extra treatment once the rug is dry.

Just mention the fringe when you book, so we know to give it attention.

Questions

Fringe repair questions

The questions we’re asked most often, answered the way we would on the phone.

How much does rug fringe repair cost in Toronto?

That depends on the rug and what the fringe needs, so it’s priced once we’ve seen it. Text us photos and the rug’s dimensions, and we’ll reply with an estimate. Nothing starts until you’ve agreed to it, nothing is added afterwards, and pickup and delivery are free for fringe repair across Toronto and the GTA.

Does my rug need a wash before a fringe repair?

Yes, always, even on a fairly new rug. The wash comes first and the fringe repair after, all in one pickup and one delivery. Mention the fringe when you book, so we know to check the ends.

Should I trim loose fringe before you pick it up?

Please don’t cut or pull loose threads; it can make things worse. Leave the fringe as it is and we’ll advise once we’ve seen it.

How long does a fringe repair take?

That depends on the rug and the work it needs. A regular wash usually takes about a week, and the fringe repair follows it. Ask when you book and we’ll give you an idea.
